Suspect Arrested In Murder Of 12 Year Old Alajawan Brown
I’ve just come from the press conference on the arrest of suspect Curtis John Walker for the murder of Alajawan Brown.
Both the KC Prosecutor and Sherrif spoke passionately about the case and Alajawan.
They stressed that Alajawan was not hit by a stray bullet, as first thought, but instead was intentionally targeted in a case of mistaken identity.
A series of fortunate events led to the arrest of the suspect. After the shooting, there was a hit and run involving the suspect. A witness followed two cars into Renton. She witnessed occupants park near a field, walk to the center, and dump unknown objects.
This was also witnessed by another person nearby, who went into the field after the suspects had left. It took a bit of time but he eventually located 3 hand guns. One of which was used to shoot Alajawan.
The Sheriff and the KC Prosecutor took their time to praise Alajawan’s family as “all American”, and Alajawan as a good kid who did absolutely nothing wrong. Both said the community should be outraged by what happened to this child, and that this kind of violence should never be tolerated.
They will meet later today with Alajawan’s parents.
Walker faces a charge of first degree murder. he will be arraigned July 1, 2010 at 9:00 at the King County court house.
