Race and Cultural Compitency; White intentions

A friend of mine suggested I write a piece on a common excuse White people use when in the midst of a racial or racist mistake; intentions.

For both Black and White people, some of these might sound familiar. Read more »

Lest We Forget: Assassinate Obama

Dr. Boyce Watkins: Agitate the hell outta it, Doc…

So my question is, how do we deal with the issue and make sure Fox News is held accountable on it?

In case you didn’t know, Bob “Sambo” Johnson is not a politician

June 11, 2008

Yup, I said it, Sambo.

Who is Bob Johnson?  The saddest Black billionaire this country has ever seen; the head of BET, the so-called “Black Entertainment” Television network.

Oh how we loath.

Bull-sized nutz Johnson has this to say about his favorite White woman, HIllary Clinton: Read more »

Clintons CUSS OUT Clyburn for support of Barack Obamarama

And people wonder why I don’t want her to be the O man’s veep…

So, what do you think he said, exactly?  Interestingly enough, Clyburn made it a point yesterday to move away from any Clinton talk, sparing them once again the attention they deserve for their shittious ways.

My guess?  “Ungrateful [Black] bastard!”

What say you… Read more »

Look how far we’ve come: HRC supporters threaten Rep. Clyburn over Obamarama

June 5, 2008  You know, this kinda shit pisses me the fuck off.  Yeah I said it, did I stutter?  If you don’t want to be offended, then stop reading now.

While everyone is high fiving and doing happy dances over Obamarama’s nod as the Dem’s nominee, Rep. James Clyburn is having his life threatened.  This happened yesterday.  Ain’t heard SHIT about it in the media (sorry, any show on Fox News doesn’t count).

Only because I’m smart enough to subscribe to blogs like Jack and Jill Politics did I hear about this Thursday night.

I cannot even tell you what a news junkie I am.  I am always looking for more sources.  I did not hear nor read one word of this.  In fact, I saw Clyburn on every damn station being quoted on the historic-ness of Obama’s feat; nobody said shit about nasty calls and threats.

I’m sure they’ve threatened to lynch him.

I’m sure they’ve been screaming “nigger” into the phone.

They’ve probably threatened his family and friends.

I wouldn’t even be shocked to hear that they said they’re going to kill Obama.

Isn’t alllllllllllllllll of this a crime?  Local and federal?  People should be up in arms.  People should be going to jail.

Fucking. furious.  I’m telling you.

And here’s the best part; they’ve identified themselves as “supporters” of HRC.  That’s right.  And I’m not shocked, not one bit.

Oh how far we’ve come indeed.

From Jack and Jill Politics:

Shoutout to Angela for sending this in.

Rep. James Clyburn is the highest ranking African-American Member of Congress as House Majority Whip. So naturally we’re interested here at JJP in what he’s up to. He came out publicly and endorsed Obama on June 3rd though Clyburn has been quietly supportive in the press of Obama prior to giving his official superdelegate vote. It seems that some Clinton supporters didn’t take too kindly to that. Ugh. If you are a Clinton supporter and reading this post? Seriously, get it together and get over it. I’m posting the full article below which is notable for appearing on FoxNews’ website. They LOVE this stuff. Really, this bitter, angry attitude only helps the Republicans. Yes, the pro-life, pro-Iraq War, pro-torture, anti-health care for indigent children, anti-environment party. Please — keep up the hatred if you want to elect their guy, John “Hand Me My Cane” McCain. It’s time for generosity, pride in both his and her historic achievement and party unity.

An angry and upset Rep. James Clyburn said Wednesday that his office has been deluged with nasty phone calls with racial overtones since his endorsement of Barack Obama a day earlier.

Clyburn told FOX News Radio’s “Brian and the Judge” that the callers identified themselves as Hillary Clinton supporters. Clyburn, an African-American and the third ranking House Democrat, said a white intern in his office was so upset by the calls that she had to be consoled by other workers and left the office early.

“We got more vitriolic, nasty phone calls, really racially tinged phone calls in my congressional office, so much so, until one of the interns, a young lady who is not a stranger to politics … and she is not a black person, she left the office, had to be consoled because of the kinds of phone calls from people who identified themselves as Hillary Clinton supporters,” he said.

Clyburn said some of the callers used “names that I would not repeat on this show today.”

“I was absolutely shocked, could not believe that this happened. I could understand people saying, ‘Why are you doing this or why would you not support Hillary Clinton?’ but to call me the kinds of names I have not heard since the ’40s and ’50s,” he said.

Clyburn said some of the callers threatened to “sabotage this election.” He added that he does not think Clinton understands her role in unifying the party.

“I’ve got a call in to Bob Johnson, a good buddy of mine, he’s a big supporter of Hillary Clinton, he’s now pushing for her to be on the ticket as VP. And I’m gonna tell him today they’d better really raise their voices because this kind of stuff is lethal,” Clyburn said.

The House majority whip later told FOX News that the nomination of a black man as a major party presidential candidate demonstrates the distance the United States has come in a short term.

“I think historically it means in the 60th year since Strom Thurmond walked out of the party on the issue of race, our party has decided that it’s time to turn the page on that issue in society,” he said referring to the late Dixiecrat turned Republican senator who was later discovered to have fathered a child with a black woman who worked as the family maid.

But Clyburn tempered his enthusiasm for Obama’s nomination, saying that there “are always pockets in this country of people who cannot find it in themselves to grow up. And to the extent which people fail to mature, we’ll still have some work to do.”

###

I”ll tell you another thing that pisses me off.  I know how the media works.  In fact, I know more than I’d LIKE to know about how the media works.  I saw Clyburn all over the TV yesterday and today.  Not a word.  Not a single word.  Does that mean he didn’t say anyhting to those reporters?

NOPE.

Is that because he didn’t tell the reporters what was going on?

Not likely.

It’s because they didn’t include it in their report.

*sorry Jim, that’s not the picture we want to paint today, maybe next week.*

Mmmhmm.  Next week.

After somebody get’s hurt.

Next week.

That’ll be the time that we realize, had we paid attention to it this week, something terrible could have been prevented.

God forbid.

Remaking Hillary Clinton…the Obama way

You ever have those weeks where, no matter what, everything just gets worse, every day?  That was this week for me.  It started Monday morning and it’s just been ramping up every day since.  So I’m up late and thinking about my own ish, and then the ish of this country.

Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee for President of the United States…of America.  Totally. impossible. to. take. in.

Hillary has successfully worked over every nerve I have…me and a few million other voters and grassroots activists.  It became sex against race, race against sex.  Overall, White women went to one side, and Black women to the other…or so it seemed.  Black women are, in case you didn’t notice, Black, and female; that makes the situation a bit more complex.

Hillary and camp didn’t just offend me as a Black person, they offended me as a Black woman.

Now Hillary has to take out her majic wand and bridge the gap.  She’s got to convince her supporters that she luvs Barack, after convincing them it wal alright to hate him.

Because Obama has such sweeping support in D.C., Hillary is no longer in a position to deny that he is the leader of the Democratic party, which is apparently what happens when one becomes the nominee; Obama staff and allies now pervade every aspect of Democratic politics and decision making.

She can either get on board, or get left in the dust, her legacy badly tarnished, if not broken.  Hillary has decided that she’s not willing to die on that hill.  She’s met with Mr. Unflappable and in a few short hours she’ll come out and endorse.

While it’s said she’ll “throw her support” behind him, it’s also been reported that she’s not quitting, she’s suspending.  Suspending means she keeps her pledge delegates.

Isn’t that a repeat of her non-consession speech?  To back him fully is to allow her delegates to go over to his side, reinforcing this historic event.

But I’ve gotten off track.

Hillary has a lot of work to do to build the bridge of unity everyone’s talking about.  I’m not confident in her advisors, they pretty much suck.  But I am confident in Obama’s.  They have a proven method for messaging, reaching out, and most important, making new friends.

I have no doubt that when the O camp says ‘jump’ Hill will ask ‘how high?’.  She has the ability to have a positive impact on the Obama campaign, and everyone knows it.

So, ten things HIllary should do to support Obamarama:

Quit the campaign and free your delegates for Obama; that is the biggest sign of support, not a suspension of the campaign.

Put Obama 08 campaign materials on her website, with a prominent link to Obama’s site on her front page.

Go on Oprah; time to woo the White women voters.

Campaign with Obama in the states she won.

Talk about racism and sexism in a proactive way.

Stop wearing brown pantsuits (okay, that was mine)

Get on message, stay on message.  Deliver message every where you go.

Check ‘Hillary supporters’ that have gone loco on Black people in government and us ‘common’ folk too.

Write an op-ed slamming Gerry F., Fox Fake News and all the rest of em.

Leave Bill in Harlem from now until after the election.
